The mineral salts of calcium have many different functions in the body. The body cannot produce calcium itself. For this reason, the intake of calcium through food, food supplements or medicines is of essential importance. The German Nutrition Society (DGE) recommends a calcium intake of 1,000 to 1,200 mg per day for adolescents and adults1.
Calcium contributes towards a normal muscular function and the preservation of healthy bones as well as teeth. Furthermore, calcium has a function in the energy metabolism, at the blood coagulation and the signal transmission between neurons. Calcium also contributes towards the normal function of digestive enzymes and plays an important role in cell division and specialization.
Calcium can be administered in the form of tablets, effervescent tablets, drinking granules, direct granules, powders, capsules, coated tablets and injection solutions.
Our products meet the requirements of the standard pharmacopeias (EP, USP, DAB, DAC) and/or conditions imposed by food law (E number, FCC) and are available in different grades, particle size distributions and bulk weights.

CaCO3 E170 Lime Carbonic lime Chalk Dolomite | Calcium carbonate is an inorganic calcium salt. It is available in different bulk weights and particle sizes. Calcium carbonate is a white powder or granular material, insoluble in water and ethanol. Calcium carbonate is available with the binding agent maltodextrin, gum Arabic or starch. In combination with a binding agent, calcium carbonate has extraordinarily good tableting properties and can therefore be easily pressed. There are two basic possibilities to obtain calcium carbonate. On the one hand calcium carbonate can be recovered from natural rock (GCC – ground calcium carbonate). On the other hand, synthetic/precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) can be obtained by bringing about a chemical reaction. Calcium carbonate is used, amongst other things, as a calcium source in the areas of pharmaceuticals, foods and food supplements. Other properties and applications: antacid, abrasive cleaners in tooth care products, coated tablet excipients, indifferent carrier in powders and ointments, food colorant, mild and dried dusting powder in cosmetics. |
